Notifying the ACMA about new and completed telco project areas

Carriers and carriage service providers (CSPs) that will be statutory infrastructure providers (SIPs) for areas must notify the ACMA at the start of a project and at completion. This information is included on the ACMA’s SIP register and map.

When to notify the ACMA

Carriers must:

  1. give an anticipatory notice to the ACMA within 20 business days of signing the contract with a developer to install telco network infrastructure in a real estate development or a building redevelopment project area.
  2. declare that the area is now a ‘provisional nominated service area’ within 10 business days of completing the network installation and give a copy of the declaration to the ACMA within 10 business days of making it.

CSPs must:

  1. give an anticipatory notice to the ACMA within 20 business days of signing the contract with a developer or beginning to install a facility for the supply of services to premises in a real estate development or a building redevelopment project area.
  2. declare that the area is now a ‘provisional nominated services area’ within 20 business days of starting to use the facility to supply services and give a copy of the declaration to the ACMA.

Guidance for SIPs has instructions for completing and lodging notices and declarations.
