Update (20 February 2025)
We have now published the submissions we received to this consultation. You can access these below.
The Final Acts of WRC-23, and its associated National Interest Analysis, were tabled in Parliament on 10 February 2025. This was part of Australia’s domestic treaty ratification process.
The process is being managed by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts. Further consideration of the proposed update to the spectrum plan will take place after Parliament weighs up the Final Acts of the WRC-23.
Until then, the Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan 2021 remains in force. Please email wrc@communications.gov.au if you have any questions about the ratification of the WRC-23 Final Acts.
Previous consultation: The issue
We want to update the Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan. This will reflect changes to international regulations made at the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23).
We have also proposed changes to address domestic planning matters. This includes suggesting permanent updates to regularise decisions made under subsection 10(10) of the spectrum plan.
You can find a draft variation, along with marked-up spectrum plan and preamble in the key documents box above.
