Outcome

We received 2 submissions to this consultation, which are available at the bottom of this page. Both submissions provided general support for the proposed changes. After considering submissions, we decided to proceed with varying the Radiocommunications (Cordless Communications Devices) Class Licence 2024 (the CCD class licence), to remove the condition limiting devices to private use only.

Previous consultation: The issue

The CCD class licence authorises the use of certain frequency bands for cordless communications devices. This includes cordless telephones used in residential and commercial settings. However, it can also include wireless microphones and headsets.

The CCD class licence was remade and came into effect on 1 July 2024. In response to the consultation process on the draft of this instrument, stakeholders suggested that the condition limiting CCD to private use only should be removed. We therefore propose to vary the CCD class licence.
