Second report on digital platforms' efforts under the Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation

In December 2019, the Australian Government requested that major digital platforms in Australia develop a voluntary code of practice to address online disinformation and news quality concerns. The Digital Industry Group developed the Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation (the code), which is a voluntary code.

The ACMA monitors digital platforms activities under the voluntary code and provided a first report to the government on the adequacy of the industry’s code in June 2021.

This report, released in July 2023, provides updated advice on the effectiveness of the code and signatories’ reporting activities.
