There are special arrangements for digital community radio licensees.
An incumbent analog community radio service is eligible to transmit a digital community radio service if it:
- has been planned in a licence area that is the same as a commercial radio licence area, or
- its licence area was deemed by the ACMA (or by the Broadcasting Services Act 1992) to be the same as a commercial radio licence area for digital radio.
Once a community radio service is eligible to provide digital radio services, it needs to seek access to the digital radio multiplex transmitter through the relevant digital community radio broadcasting representative company.
