Australian Radiocommunication Study Groups
Members usually meet in Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney via videoconference.
They help to form Australian positions on issues considered at the regional (Asia-Pacific) and international level by:
- providing expert advice to the ACMA to assist in the development of Australian positions and contributions for Australian Delegations to ITU-R Study Groups and subordinate group meetings
- promoting and encouraging the development of Australian participation in ITU-R Study Group matters
- reporting outcomes of ITU-R studies and making recommendations, relevant to WRC agenda items to the Australian Preparatory Group
- providing advice on relevant matters to other ARSGs and the Australian Preparatory group

Spectrum management
ARSG 1 looks at spectrum management principles — sharing, monitoring and long-term use. It:
- provides expert advice to the ACMA to help develop Australian contributions to ITU-R Study Group 1 and its group meetings
- promotes and encourages Australian participation in ITU-R Study Group 1 matters
- provides advice on relevant ARSG 1 matters to other ARSGs and domestic bodies

Radiowave propagation
ARSG 3 looks at radio waves and radio noise to help improve radiocommunication systems. It:
- provides expert advice to the ACMA to help develop Australian contributions to ITU-R Study Group 3 and its group meetings
- promotes and encourages Australian participation in ITU-R Study Group 3 matters
- provides advice on relevant ARSG 3 matters to other ARSGs and domestic bodies

Satellite services
ARSG 4 looks at fixed, mobile, broadcasting and radiodetermination satellite services. It:

- provides advice on relevant ARSG 4 matters to other ARSGs and domestic bodies
