Updates to the 'Media interests' snapshot

We update the snapshot and maps when there is a significant change in the interests, licences or publications held.

October 2019

We updated the snapshot in October 2019 to reflect information contained in ASX Announcements.

Updates



Bruce Gordon’s interest in Prime Media Limited was changed from 3.25% to 11.59% to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

Nine’s interest in Macquarie Media Limited was changed from 54.5% to 88.78% and then several changes in Nine’s interests between 88.78% to 98.64%, to reflect information contained in ASX Announcements.

John Singleton’s interest in Macquarie Media Limited has been removed from the snapshot to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

Updates to maps

The map for Bruce Gordon was updated to reflect his indirect shareholdings in Macquarie Media Limited through Nine and his interests in the Nine associated newspapers.

July 2019

We updated the snapshot on 26 July 2019. A change was made to the snapshot and one map.

Updates

The snapshot was updated to remove a note regarding the merger of Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited (Nine) and Fairfax Media Limited on 7 December 2018. The map for Nine was amended to reflect the acquisition by Antony Catalano, Thorney Investment Group and others of the Australian Community Media and Publishing regional associated newspapers from Nine on 30 June 2019.

We updated the snapshot on 25 June 2019.

The maps for Super Radio Network and Bill Caralis were updated to reflect the acquisition by Broadcast Operations Pty Ltd of Bathurst Broadcasters Pty Ltd and associated radio broadcast licenses from Camplin Broadcasters Pty Ltd.

Updates



The snapshot was updated to reflect to merger of Fairfax Media Limited (Fairfax) and Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited (Nine). Fairfax was removed from the snapshot and Nine was added as 100% shareholder of Nine Network and 54.5% shareholder of Macquarie Media Limited, to reflect information contained in an ASX announcement. Bruce Gordon’s interests in Nine were changed from 14.97% to 7.76% to reflect information contained in an ASX announcement. News Corporation’s interests in HT&E Limited were changed from 13.23% to 14.64% to reflect information contained in an ASX announcement.



Updates to maps



The map for Nine was amended to reflect the above mentioned merger with Fairfax, which resulted in it coming into a position to exercise control of the Fairfax associated newspapers and the Macquarie Media Limited commercial radio broadcasting licences. The maps for Grant Broadcasters and Janet Cameron to reflect their acquisition of commercial radio broadcast service 1029 Hot Tomato in the Gold Coast RA1 licence area.

July 2018

We updated the snapshot on 20 July 2018. Changes were made to the map for Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), to reflect the rebranding by SCA of its radio stations under the ‘Hit’ and ‘MMM’ brands.

January 2018

We updated the snapshot on 22 January 2018.

Bruce Gordon’s interest in Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited was changed from 14.96% to 14.97% to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

December 2017

We updated the snapshot on 1 December 2017. Changes were made to the snapshot 7 maps.

Updates

Bruce Gordon, Foxtel, Gina Rinehart, Lachlan Murdoch and James Packer were removed as shareholders of Ten Network Holdings Limited (Ten), and CBS Corporation was added as 100% shareholder of Ten to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

The Note for Ten was amended to reflect its removal from the ASX official list after it was acquired by CBS Corporation.

Kerry Stokes’ interests Seven Group Holdings Limited were changed from 73% to 65.82% to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

Changes were made to 7 maps to reflect the above changes.

We updated the snapshot on 23 October 2017. Changes were made to the snapshot and 8 maps.

Seven Group Holdings Limited was removed as a shareholder of Prime Media Group Limited (Prime), and Bruce Gordon was added as shareholder of Prime to reflect information contained in ASX Announcements.

Macquarie Group Limited was removed as a shareholder of Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

The note for Ten Network Holdings Limited was amended to reflect its current status.

Macquarie Group Limited’s interest in Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited was changed from 6.10% to 7.26% to reflect information contained in an ASX Announcement.

June 2017

We updated the snapshot on 28 June. Changes were made to the snapshot and several maps.

Updates

The name of the map for APN News & Media Ltd changed to HT&E Limited to reflect the recent change of the company’s name.

A note was also added to the snapshot to regarding Ten Network Holdings Limited being placed under voluntary administration on 14 June.

Updates to maps

A number of maps were also amended to reflect the above changes. In addition, changes were made to the Southern Cross Austereo, Bruce Gordon and Win Network maps to reflect the recent sale by Southern Cross Austereo of its Northern New South Wales commercial television broadcasting licence to Bruce Gordon and Win Network.

31 January updates to maps

The maps for Fairfax, John Singleton and Macquarie Media Limited were updated to reflect the sale of commercial radio station 2CH to Oceania Capital Partners Limited.

13 January updates to maps

The maps for APN News & Media Ltd, News Corporation, News Corp Australia, Rupert Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch were updated to reflect the acquisition by News Corporation of 12 associated newspapers from APN News & Media Ltd.

December 2016

We updated the snapshot on 5 December.

Updates

Macquarie Group Ltd was added as a shareholder of Nine Entertainment Co, and News Corp Australia’s interests in APN News & Media Ltd were updated to reflect information contained in ASX notices.

Updates to maps

A map was added for Macquarie Group Ltd to reflect its interests in Nine Entertainment Co.

The map for Fairfax Media Ltd was amended to reflect amendments recently made to the ACMA’s Associated Newspaper Register (the Register) affecting the Maitland Mercury, The North West Star and The Advocate newspapers.

The maps for Kerry Stokes, Seven West Media, Seven Group Holdings, Rupert Murdoch, Lachlan Murdoch, News Corporation and News Corporation Australia were updated to reflect Seven West Media’s acquisition of The Sunday Times in Perth from News Corporation.

Updates to maps

The on-air IDs for regional commercial television broadcasting stations were changed to reflect changes in program affiliations for WIN Television and Southern Cross Austereo with the Ten and Nine networks, respectively (see the maps for WIN Network, Bruce Gordon, Southern Cross Austereo, Prime Media Group, Seven Group Holdings Limited, Kerry Stokes and Nine Entertainment Co).

In addition, the on-air IDs for 3 commercial radio broadcasting stations in Cairns, Mackay and Townsville have changed to reflect rebranding of the services under the ‘Star’ brand (see the maps for Grant Broadcasters and Janet Cameron).

A minor amendment was also made to the Fairfax Media Limited, John Singleton and Macquarie Media Limited maps to reflect the period of a prior approval of a temporary breach being extended by the ACMA.
