To assist news publishers with the significant challenges they face in the current media landscape, the release of the 2020 Round of the Innovation Fund has been brought forward.
Applications will be open for a four-week period, commencing in late April and closing in late May. The application and processing timeframes will be shorter than previous rounds to help business deliver public interest journalism to the community.
The 2020 Round will be open to regional and metropolitan publishers and content service providers producing public interest journalism.
A total of $5 million will be available for the 2020 Round, with a maximum of $400,000 for any applicant.
The Innovation Fund is a three-year, $48 million grant program, which began in 2018. It is part of the Australian Government’s $60.4 million Regional and Small Publishers Jobs and Innovation package.
