Politics and current affairs on TV and radio

As a TV or radio broadcaster, you must keep records about the content you broadcast on political subjects or current affairs.

Keep your records

There are record keeping rules on TV and radio broadcasters. These rules apply at all times.

For any news, address, statement, commentary or discussion on a political subject or current affairs, you must keep a record of it:

  • for 6 weeks
  • for 60 days after any complaint someone makes

You must make the record available to us at no charge.

Types of records

The ACMA has published rules about the form of records to be kept by broadcasters.
