Quarterly highlights
The ACMA enforces captioning obligations on commercial, national and subscription television services. They are required to meet captioning targets and the Captioning Quality Standard, safeguards that ensure viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing can have meaningful access to television.
With an estimated one in six Australians suffering from some degree of hearing loss, captioning makes television meaningful to them by presenting what is being said in text and describing sound effects.
Broadcasting complaints and investigations
The ACMA considers every complaint it receives and assesses whether to investigate the complaint.
