Why you need an aeronautical licence
You need an aeronautical licence to operate a station that provides:
- air traffic control
- aerodrome radio information
- private company radio at an airport or airfield
- other airport or aerodrome services
You can only get an aeronautical licence for a station that:
- is not fixed to an aircraft
- operates on aeronautical frequencies
- is for operating an aircraft, airport or aerodrome
- for aircraft, includes a mobile station on the aircraft or ground that communicates with aircraft
The Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2015 defines aeronautical licences.
