Outcome and next steps
The ACMA received 30 submissions (one made in confidence) from various industry sectors in response to the consultation paper. This included:
- the satellite industry
- government bodies
- mobile network operators
- broadcasters and narrowcasters
- other interested parties.
We thank all submitters for their contributions. You can view the public submissions at the bottom of this page.
After considering submissions, we have developed a new consultation paper, Response to implementation of the Spectrum Pricing Review as the next step of the Spectrum Pricing Review process. This paper responds to submissions received and outlines the ACMA’s proposed work program.
It offers you the chance to comment on our response to submissions and our proposed work program of changes to apparatus licence taxes. We will run the consultation from 16 December 2020 to 18 February 2021.
Update
The original closing date of Wednesday 15 April 2020 has been extended to allow industry sectors to prioritise their business-critical functions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The issue
Spectrum pricing, along with licensing, planning and technical regulation, is a way to manage spectrum for the benefit of all Australians.
This consultation focuses on the implementation of three of the 11 recommendations of the Spectrum Pricing Review. It offers the opportunity to comment on the proposed spectrum pricing guidelines and focus areas for our work program.
