This industry standard explains the installation and maintenance practices that you must follow. It covers the requirements for fixed or concealed cabling or equipment that is connected or intended to be connected to a telecommunications network.

AS/CA S008:2020

This industry standard applies to the cable, cabling products and connecting hardware on the customer side of the telecommunications network boundary.

Telecommunications Technical Standard (Requirements for customer cabling products – AS/CA S008) 2015

The ACMA has made this technical standard to adopt the industry standard AS/CA S008.  

To comply with the Wiring Rules, cabling work must use products that comply with the ACMA’s technical standard (and therefore AS/CA S008).

The TLN

The TLN outlines the standards for labelling cabling products. 

Customer cabling and surge protectors must comply with the ACMA’s technical standard Telecommunications Technical Standard (Requirements for customer cabling products – AS/CA S008) 2015.

Telecommunications (Types of Cabling Work) Declaration 2024

The declaration specifies the types of cabling work covered by the regulatory arrangements, which is all cabling work, except for those kinds listed in Schedule 1 of the declaration. 

All cabling work except for those kinds listed in Schedule 1 of the declaration must comply with the Telecommunications Cabling Provider Rules 2014
