The ACMA is aware that offshore gambling services are sending text messages promoting their sites, connecting the promotion to people being confined to their homes because of Cyclone Alfred.
Not only is this abhorrent opportunism by these companies but it is illegal.
We are doing everything we can to disrupt them by asking Australian Internet Service Providers to block the websites to Australian residents. We would encourage people not to click on the links, delete these texts and report them as spam.
