LOG 1: Making a determination on whether a television station has incorrectly classified a broadcast program

The FOI request sought access to documents used by the Content Classification Section of the ACMA (within the last two years) when making a determination on whether a television station has incorrectly classified a broadcast program (where those documents are not already in the public domain). The request specifically included material used in training staff at the ACMA.

Disclosure summary

5 documents were released to the applicant. 

3 were released in full, and 2 were partially released, subject to the redaction of information in relation to which the ACMA is exempt from the operation of the FOI Act, under subsection 7(2) of that Act and Part II of Schedule 2 to the Act.

These documents are 'exempt documents' within the meaning of the FOI Act. The documents contain detailed information which is likely to facilitate access to offensive internet content which is exempt under the FOI Act.

The ACMA redacted the exempt material from the documents under section 22 of the FOI Act and the rest of the documents were released.
