Reference period |
Annual (reporting for calendar years) Points quota information (under the ACCTS) was collected for the first time for the 2021 calendar year. BSA transmission quota obligation information (under the BSA) has been collected for more than 10 years. |

Data quality description
Accuracy
Data provided by CTV licensees is imported into an internal system and is scanned for errors in accordance with agreed business rules. If errors cannot be easily reconciled, they are queried with the relevant licensees to confirm the accuracy of the data provided.
Completeness
All CTV licensees provide annual reports to the ACMA on their compliance with the points and transmission quotas.
Relevance
The data informs the ACMA about CTV licensee compliance and the levels of Australian content broadcast on commercial television. The data is split between metropolitan and regional licensees and is also broken down into content genres and broadcast hours. As well as monitoring compliance with obligations, the data allows for the analysis of the genre levels and trends over time and between CTV licensees at both network and licensee levels.
Timeliness
Data is reported to the ACMA annually in line with the legislative obligations. The ACMA Corporate Plan KPI is to report on the data within 6 months of its receipt.
Collection
All CTV licensees must report to the ACMA on their compliance with TV content standards by 31 March each year for the preceding calendar year using the 121G and B70 compliance forms for metropolitan licensees or the B69 compliance form for regional licensees. These forms are available on the ACMA website. The data collected includes information such as television network and licensee details, program titles and transmission hours.
Consistency
The ACMA has documented processes and procedures for the handling, storage and analysis of the data, including confidential information, provided to it by CTV licensees.
Fit-for-purpose
The availability of Australian programs on television contributes to strong and vibrant communities and a shared sense of who we are as Australians by building a common understanding of Australian experiences and stories and enhancing our understanding of the Australian national identity. Relevantly, this data is fit-for-purpose as it informs the ACMA of the CTV licensees annual compliance obligations under the BSA and the ACCTS.
