The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) commenced an investigation on 5 March 2024 into Telstra Limited’s compliance with the Telecommunications (Emergency Call Service) Determination 2019 in relation to the incident that impacted Telstra’s transfer of some Triple Zero calls to police, fire and ambulance services on 1 March 2024. The investigation will focus on Telstra’s obligations as the Emergency Call Person to transfer emergency calls to the applicable service.
The ACMA will not be commenting further on, nor speculating about any potential outcomes of, the investigation while it is under way. The ACMA will make its investigation findings public once concluded.
