Employment conditions

The ACMA is committed to supporting its workforce by:

The ACMA recognises the importance to its employees of being able to balance their work and other lifestyle commitments and offer a range of flexible working conditions to assist employees achieve this.

Generous remuneration

The ACMA has a comprehensive enterprise agreement which offers attractive salaries plus superannuation contributions of 15.4 per cent.  You can also access remuneration packaging arrangements. 

Excellent leave provisions

  • 20 days annual leave per year (with cashing out and half-pay provisions)
  • purchased leave scheme
  • generous paid sick and carers leave
  • paid parental, maternity and adoption leave
  • three months long service leave after ten years qualifying service
  • annual Christmas shut down
  • flextime for ACMA 6 and below staff
  • time off in lieu for Executive Level staff.

Study options

The ACMA supports employees who wish to undertake tertiary study relevant to their employment. Support includes:

  • access to paid leave to undertake study
  • financial assistance of up to $3,000 (plus any GST component) per academic period for discounted Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) fees, study/unit and compulsory fees, books and study materials
  • examination leave for up to two days per unit/subject in an academic period for preparation for and attendance at compulsory examinations, or for the completion of assignments, essays or projects that are a required component of study.

Other working arrangements

  • workplace diversity and work, health and safety programs
  • access to an Employee Assistance Program and Harassment Contact Network
  • access to home-based work, subject to operational requirements
  • provision of a carer’s room in the Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne offices
  • subsidy for childcare during school holidays
  • public transport assistance scheme which allows employees to take advantage of cheaper fares for annual tickets without the need for a large outlay—employees repay the cost over 12 months through fortnightly deductions from their pay.

The ACMA acknowledges the contribution that all employees make to the achievement of corporate and business goals. The ACMA is committed to continuing to strengthen its performance through the use of a performance management framework that:

  • encourages and recognises employee efforts
  • provides feedback, including any areas for improvement or development
  • identifies training and development needs for employees.
