Our research program—researchacma—contributes to our strategic policy development, regulatory reviews and investigations, and helps us to make media and communications work for all Australians. It also underpins our work and decisions as an evidence-informed regulator.

researchacma has five broad areas of interest:

  • market developments
  • media content and culture
  • social and economic participation
  • citizen and consumer safeguards
  • regulatory best practice and development.

The Privacy Act 1988 imposes obligations on the ACMA for the collection, security, quality, access, use and disclosure of personal information. These obligations are detailed in the Australian Privacy Principles. Further information on the Privacy Act and the ACMA’s Privacy Policy is available at www.acma.gov.au/privacypolicy.
