The ACMA works in partnership with industry and government organisations to develop practical technological solutions and effective e-Security measures to reduce spam and improve the tracking of national and international spamming activity.
The ACMA has successfully implemented many technological applications to report and collect spam, and advise government organisations, law enforcement agencies and Internet Service Providers on the activities and whereabouts of spammers.
For example, the ACMA:
- provides daily reports to participating Internet Service Providers (ISPs) about ‘zombie’ computers that the Australian Internet Security Initiative identifies residing on their networks. ISPs then liaise with their customers to resolve the problems.
