Important technical characteristics of communication devices often differ between countries - many countries have different standards, such as the voltage of the public mains power supply or the radio frequencies suitable for operation of communication devices.

Even if your device operates safely in another country, it is not necessarily safe to use that device in Australia.

When bringing communications equipment to Australia, you may only operate that equipment in accordance with applicable Australian rules and regulations.

Improper operation of communications equipment such as fax machines, wireless microphones and computers may cause radiocommunications interference, or even endanger your health or the safety of others.
